Has been a while, but what can I say? Nothing is happening:
- am running
- am eating as little as possible
- not drinking or socialising
- fixing neighbours PC's :-(
- blogging and reviewing like a nutter
- twittering like an idiot
- writing up the consultancy work.
Add to that the power problems (solved) the iPhoto libray blip (having to rename and tetag 3000+ pictures), the switch to Flickr PRO, and the trunking prior to intalling etherent throughout the apartment it has been pretty busy and dull.
Haven't watched a movie or read a book for ages!!
Anyway so far I have lost 15 lbs this month, and still haven't shaved. Friends got back from 2 month trip today so may meet up with them for a drink tomorrow night and have a break for one night!!!
Will let you know
Posting this as Sands dozes off and attempts to watch The Portrait of a Lady. Moreno is asleep, and I wish I was watching the All-Star game that I recorded. Heh ho maybe one day we will agree on a film that we both want to watch. What gets me is when she chooses the movie, stops me watching what I was watching and then falls asleep!!
Normally not a problem as can always go into her den to watch the TV, but with the ongoing power problems (changed a residual current device earlier and that didn't solve it, th eden is sort of quarantined.
May have identfied the cause - a burn power cable on the coffee machine so will change that tomorrow and do some testing. Also going to get a load of trunkng (conduit) and start the preperation for laying ethernet throughout the apartment and shift stuff around in Sands den. Should be fun - am totally fed up with the slowness and poor reliablity of wireless these days. Is ok for email and internet, but as soon as you try and move movies and large files around it sucks.
Whilst I am at it - I have read about 100 pages of Runaway and have only just worked out that it is a series of short stories that aren't related at all. I am on the third story that tells you I haven't been concentrating that much on it!
.... well I don't and I didn't!! As I post this Sands is watching the last half of Must Love Dogs. I (as you can see) have given up!
We are having a nightmare with our power. 7 pm every night it trips. I have to unplug EVERYTHING, wait 20 minutes and then plug everything back in and it works fine - until 7 pm the next day. 3 nights now it has done this, and there has been no common thread - tonight it even tripped, after it had tripped, with all the individual breakers off. Totally bizarre and very frustrating!
As you can see he has now worked out where they are, and seems to love just getting them out of the dish and onto the floor. Doesn't often play with them, just likes to make a mess and then watch us tidy it all up.
In the meantime he has also managed to make a yellow LiveStrong Armstrong cancer band disappear! This is pretty impressive given the size and the colour.
Oh and for anyone that thought I might have commented on Domino by now - I didn't get to watch it. Sands didn't go out in the end so I will have to wait!
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore would NEVER have got onto my radar screen. It was one that Sands came across, read good things about and as it was her turn to chose the movie that is what we watched last night.
I have to say I am glad that I watched it, I sort of enjoyed it but I wont watch it again. It is one of those films that I enjoy more after the event than during if that makes any sense to you?
Still Sands is out tonight so I get to watch whatever I want, on whichever sofa I want - without anyone talking to me about what I think is going to happen next! I hate that! If you are going to watch a movie just watch it - let the film tell you what it wants you to know. Fine to talk about it after, but not during!!!!!
Don't seem to have posted much recently. Partly because not much happening and partly because I have picked up a sore throat so am doing even less than normal!
I have just spent a couple of days importing and tagging 3225 photos into iPhoto - which is really not that exciting. I needed to get it done though before I embark on some more serious photography with the Nikon.
I haven't ben able to do anything with the microphone or mixer as my voice is pretty croaky. I have been playing around with converting some movies recorded from TV onto PC into QuickTime - which takes an absolute age to do at any reasonable quality.
I did celebrate an anniverasry recently. On the 7th of February it was exactly a year since I got back from the US on what was my 46th flight in 12 months and vowed not to travel anywhere for at least a year. 365 nights under my own roof. Not a plane, train, boat, bike or road trip at all. It has been brilliant. No sooner has it ended though and it looks like I will be going to Frankfurt or Paris or Washington or India at the beginning of March. At the moment Frankfurt or Paris are the most probable as it is only for one meeting. Washington would make more sense as that is where the company is based and I could get more done. India would be the most interesting.
Apart from that - have lost a total of 12.5lbs so far this year, still haven't had a shave, and aprt from the sore throat am feeling pretty good.
Last night we watched Red Eye which I enjoyed. OK it was a pretty lame movie, but it was an interesting twist on an old plot, and I thought they shot the airlines scenes pretty well. All in all an easy enough way to spend an hour and a half. Not sure I would watch it again, but have saved it to the Mac mini anyway.
It has been a while since I posted something. I have actually been pretty busy, which is a little strange for me. Needless to say that a lot if it has been created by Moreno!
For some reason today he decided that my running socks (clean I will add) must have been a mouse. He picked them up in his mouth and ran around with them for at least 30 minutes. He kept jumping in and out his box, and trying to find a place to settle down and eat them. He is mad, but very very funny.
One of the reasons that I have been so busy though is that the other day he found out that he could now jump/climb onto the top of the units in our kitchen:
This isn't a problem on the units above the sink as they are flush to the wall, but the other side (1st picture) have the fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave built in so (as we found out!) there is actually a gap running down the back of the units or varying width. Moreno found it! Don't think he was stuck as such, but he didn't seem able to get out so step ladders, a very tight squeeze, and one startled looking cat later I had pulled him back up. Of course he waited until 11pm to do all this. To stop him going back down we tried to keep him out of the kitchen and put some wooden trays across the top of the units weighted down with a very heavy baking tray. CRASH - he managed to get in and now the baking tray is stuck behind the units! He was OK, but a little startled. Anway we have now put some wood across the top and covered the gaps, so he has a new place to play. He can get down on hos own from the side bby the sink (2nd picture) but seems to need help from the other side.
Sands has had me putting up some window blinds (7 in total) and a neighbour has just bought one as well so I haven't finished that chore yet!
As for January, it was really quiet and very healthy. Lost 9lbs and my running is getting better - and I still haven't shaved! No reason. Strangely enough it isn't itching or bohering me like it has before so am just seeing what happens. Is kinda strange to have a beard that I can comb!!!!
I think that about brings me back up to speed :-)
Actually it doesn't! As you know I love 24 and I love gadgets so this site made me smile.
