Just a couple of hours before New Year so as good a time as any to reflect on 2006 I guess? As for tonight we have no plans, and very possibly wont do anything. Partly because I am really lazy when it comes to socialising and detest the pressure that certain times of the year put on you "to have a good time" (birthdays and christmas are on the same list). Partly because it really seems stupid to pay twice the normal price to got the places you can go at any time of the year .Partly becaude we havn't been here long enough to develop any friendships that mean there is anybody that we can really be that bothered to try and see.
Am not sad though - on the basis that it is a night when you are meant to "have a good time" we will have a GREAT time with some good food, a good movie and moreno.
So what about 2006? All in all it was a really good year. Didn't work at all which was great but took some adjusting to, and I probably over compensated by spending way to much time on my Macs and messing about with blogs, sites, forums etc.
My fitness is pretty good, and without doubt a year of travelling anywhere has really helped me get into a more regular eating and exercise pattern.
The Spanish came along nicely at the start of the year but trailed off - must get my mind around that again.
Highlights of the year? Moreno and the RockDoves without doubt. A close second comes all the Mac stuff and the time I have been able to spend with my music, videos and pictures, but overall it has been just spending a whole year with Sands here in Spain.
A couple of sad parts to the year - the death of Sands father and our friend Guy obvioulsy and to a (much) lesser extent the death of a couple of the rock doves, but overall a year to be happy about.
Going to treat it as a good foundation year for our life here in Spain as I think we have a got a great opportunity ahead of us, and I really want us to make the most of it.
So whatever you do tonight be safe and have fun. See you in the New Year hopefully and thanks for reading this blog during 2006.
We had a really pleasant day. Woke up and played with Moreno, and dropped the food we were preparing down to our friends, then went for a couple (well 3) pints of Guiness with a friend:
After that we had a good lunch with some neighbours, got home about 9pm to watch some TV and play with Moreno:
For anyone that uses iLife06 to Photocast, or has an RSS reader this link will give you a selection of our Xmas Day pictures:

I recently had a great pre Christmas afternoon, laying on the sofa with Moreno watchin the sixth Star Wars film. I watched a couple when they first came out, and then seem to have managed to watch one of the new ones a while ago without remembering.
Anyway, my official order ov viewing was, 4,5,1,1,2,3,4,5,6.
I have to say that as a non expert on Star Wars I think they watched really well 1-6, and that they did a great job with the continuation of the story. Even the special effects weren't that different between the old and the new. I hadn't realised how "hammy"/"corny" they were, but I actually really enjoyed watching them.
Wh a next? Some light reading I think so am going to read Breakfast at Tiffany's before starting In Cold Bloood
Yesterday Moreno went to the vet to have his "bits" snipped! At the same time he had his chip inserted, had his rabbies jab and had his claws trimmed.
He was OK at the vet, didn't really like the initial injection to calm him down, and like pretty much every cat he was a little sick. He was really cute though as he got sleepy as he couldn't work out why and was trying really hard to stay asleep. Once he was nearly asleep he had the anethestic and flopped down - that is when we left him, looking very vunerable and cute.
When we picked him up he was in pretty good shape, but wouldn't stay in his basket and couldn't walk. He looked like a very funny drunk, so we put him back in his carry case so he could recover for a couple of hours. The vet said that he might be off his food for 1-3 days, but within 5 hours he has gobbled down a couple of meals, and even ate some the pawns and chicken that we had as takeaway last night.
He was a little sleepy most of the evening and although he didn't sleep on our bed last night he popped up for a fuss 3 times.
This morning he is back to normal - finding it a bit harder to climb up things with his trimed claws, but showing very little sign of discomfort and certainly has his appetite still.
For one reason or another I am not a big socialiser, so that fact added to the arrival of Moreno and been busy with my MyAppleStuff means I haven't been out much at all.
Anyway last night we went out with Juan Carlos and Ines to the local town, El Ejido. We went to a bar called Cubinito that used to be in Amerimar, but moved a year or so ago. Small bar, great Tapas and Jacqui that owns it is a really nice lady.
Ines and Juan Carlos are off on holiday for two months to see family in Alicanti, Madris, Galicia and Venuzuela so our favourite restaurant will be closed until March 2nd , which will be a good excuse to get fit I reckon!
After Tapas they came ack to the apartment to see Moreno and the Christmas decorations and to pick up some Christmas music I had put on CD for them.
Lke an idiot I forgot to take any pictures though!
Just when we were feeling sad about the dove yesterday, Moreno popped up with anothernew "trick"
On the dove front, life goes on. Camilla and Pedro's latest two squabs have hatched, and Bruce seems to be ok in amongs the flock, so to speak.
